Bali is a spectacular place visited by island enthusiasts, hipsters and travel junkies. However it is in the pockets of the untouched areas where you will find true paradise. The nooks of the island that really get you away from the hustle and bustle of Bali.
Winding our way through the local homes of the Bukit Peninsula, we arrived at Karma Kandara. A 5 Star Villa Resort perched on the Cliffside of Uluwatu, known for its healing powers and chakra balancing energy. Hello karma!! The Resort responsible for your white wash based wanderlust and turquoise infused yearning to hit the ‘Island of Gods’. Checking into our 3 bedroom villa was infused with gasps of delight. We almost needed a map to navigate our way through what can only be coined a mansion complete with four poster beds and baths ahoy. Private Jacuzzi encompassed by a private pool fringed with frangipani trees and observant monkeys anyone??
Taking the journey through this stunning Resort was an adventure in itself. Through walkways of cascading vines and blooms, we stumbled across that famed horizon edge pool. With a view to die for, we had literally arrived in aesthetic paradise. Where white meets turquoise with twists of sunshine and shade. The Temple Bar located at the top of the pool and restaurant, is like an Aegean utopia. Delightful, albeit expensive, cocktails served in the most stunning surrounds with views across the pool and down the Cliffside to the Karma Club Beach. A quick inclinator ride down the Cliffside took us to a stunning white sand beach with full Beach Club set up. Perfect for that Sunday Sesh, or just a casual sunset cocktail and tapas.
Karma Spa was an experience in itself. Located on the clifftop with views over the entire bay, boasting one of the most stunning bathrooms complete with spa pool and cliff shower you’ve ever seen. Our treatment was definitely ‘of the gods’ – would recommend booking in for multiple indulgent days in the Spa, perhaps followed by a crisp cocktail by your private pool for maximum relaxation effect. That bathroom though!!
We decided one night to dine in our villa and were presented with an array of unbelievably good Indonesian food (bring on the Sambal please!!) with a bottle of wine. The Resort really is the perfect marriage of relaxation and interaction. You can hide in your villa with complete privacy, or head just around the corner to Single Fin for some beers and beats. If your honeymoon is pending or if you have a girls trip coming up, what can I say …. Best be booking into paradise asap!
